ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y. - November 25, 2018 - The Pratt Institute women's basketball team returned to the hardwood on Sunday afternoon, as the Cannoneers fell to Bard College, 74-38, in the Stevenson Athletic Center.
The Cannoneers, now 1-1 on the year, shot 14-for-49 (28.6%) over 40 minutes of play, while the Raptors, improved to 3-1 on the year, while shooting 31-for-82 (37.8%).
Emily Guerra led Pratt with a team-best 17 points to go along with 12 boards and four blocks, while Idalia Kaplan finished with 10 points. Additionally, sophomore guard Anna Seminara also hauled in five rebounds, and a team-high four steals.
For Bard, first-year Christina Kiser led all players with 31 points, and added 10 rebounds and four assists.
Bard jumped out to an early 10-0 lead before Dejah Swanson made a layup at 7:22 in the first quarter to give Pratt its first points. The Raptors would continue to extend their lead, ending the opening period leading 27-5. Kaplan would make three free throws in the game's opening 10 minutes.
Entering the second quarter, Guerra knocked down a jumper to make it 31-7 with 9:02 to play in the half, before a Kiser layup made it 36-7, Bard, with 7:24 to play in the frame. After another basket from Guerra made it a 24-point game with 4:49 remaining, Bard finished the half on a 7-1 run, sending the hosts into the locker room up 43-13.
The Raptors' defense locked down in the third quarter, as they only allowed the Cannoneers nine points in the 10-minute period, opening up a 58-22 lead on a jump shot from Caleigh Decaprio as time expired in the third.
Seminara would drill a jump-shot while getting fouled and make the free throw with under a minute remaining in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring for the game from both sides, 74-38.
Next Up: Pratt Institute will return to the ARC for a 6:30 p.m. contest with SUNY Purchase on Tuesday, November 27.
