Pratt takes 2-0 lead on Lesley, but drops pair at Mount Ida tri-match

NEWTON, MA – Pratt Institute fell 3-2 to Lesley University and 3-1 to the host Mustangs at Mount Ida College's tri-match Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's volleyball play.

The Cannoneers came within three points of a 3-0 sweep, forcing a Lynx timeout leading 22-21 in Game 3 with a 2-0 match lead. Lesley's Tyler Burns came out of the timeout with a pair of kills, and with the Lynx now at match point, Cutler was blocked at the net in preventing a Cannoneers sweep.

Four Cannoneers combined for five attack errors in a 7-1 Lesley run that suddenly found the Lynx on top 10-7. Cutler and Matthew Valentine converted kills that tied the set at 10-10, but with the game tied 12-12, two more Pratt attack errors and a Jess Cherry ace completed the Lynx comeback with a 3-2 deciding set win.

Against Mount Ida, the Mustangs faced game point in the opening set when two Cutler kills and a Mount Ida attack error gave Pratt a hard-fought 28-26 victory. From there, the Cannoneers hit -.074 and -.071 as a team in dropping the second and third sets, and the Mustangs hit a scorching .292 in a 25-15 Game 4 win.
